If Trader Joe's were to go in the old Harris Teeter, they would only take about half the space (maybe even less). That would leave somewhere between 15 and 25,000 square feet of space unoccupied.
Good point TJ's are smaller than HT. They could likely divide the space and put in something else beside it. I'm sure being directly beside a TJ's is a prime spot for many businesses.
It would probably take out that Applebees on the corner. Not sure what kind of business they do there.
Or any Applebee - walked into one once and and walked out without ordering, it just seemed like a guaranteed disappointment. But that was overseas, and they may be different here.

No, it won’t touch the Applebee’s or anything else already there like Papa John’s or Lifetime Fitness...it’s only on the old leveled Alcatel property just to the north.

Ah Applebees... aka the "we microwave everything" restaurant and "we give up on trying to innovate" and accept our eventual bankruptcy fate.
I actually went into the parking lot for the first time in a while earlier. How long have the dumpsters been out front? Definitely looks like they are removing everything from inside, but that may have been going on since the place closed for all I know.
Anyone know the name of the gym that is rumored to take that space?
