Indeed. The Cherry Bounce is akin to the "official" drink of Raleigh going back to the 1700s and potentially has the lore of helping seal the deal for Raleigh being the capital city of NC.

i think you're on to something but no also I don't think sweet whiskeys go well with soda but im no mixologist

Bourbon isn't "sweet". No whiskey is, unless its be adulterated in some fashion.
