Learning Express (Crescent Commons) is currently sold out, but expecting one more shipment this week.

Lots of good advice so far. Thanks everyone. If all else fails, we'll do the viewing box method with an empty cereal box.

If you have an old welder's helmet around the house and are thinking of using it to view the Sun, make sure you know the filter's shade number. If it's less than 12 (and it probably is), don't even think about using it to look at the Sun."

I learned a lot from their article, How to Tell If Your Eclipse Glasses or Handheld Solar Viewers Are Safe.

https://eclipse.aas.org/eye-safety/iso-certification

This article has a link to their list of Reputable Vendors of Solar Filters & Viewers.
I forgot about the shade numbers. Good to point that out.

I'd definitely be weary about of anything purchased even if it has the ISO spec. Shady companies trying to make a quick buck don't mind lying about that. I'd do the light check they also mentioned.

Does anyone know if Lowes or Walmart or Home Depot expect new stock this week? I would imagine that all the manufacturers are working day and night to keep up with the demand...

At each home depot, walmart, and lowes that i have gone to - at first i was told they were out but to come back in a couple of days. So i did - and then as of the last 48 hours - at every single place i have tried, they said they were out and would not be getting any more.

Lowes said they would have them on the 10th. We went back around 12 noon on the 10th...they were already out. My wife ordered 5 pair on line from somewhere else.

If you have binoculars you can use them as a projector (definitely don't look at the sun through them). https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/...projector.html

That site shows a bit of a rig they set up which is good if you have a tripod and want to do it, but you can also just hand hold the binoculars and project on a wall, the ground or whatever, just play around for a second to get the right distance for focus.

Stone’s is out but expecting a shipment on Wednesday. They were taking down names and phone numbers yesterday if you want to be contacted. Not sure it guarantees anything though.
