Yeah it's pretty cool and they've actually gotten some pretty unusual and rare-ish beers here and there. I've found the guys I've talked to a couple of stores seem pretty knowledgeable and willing to help.
Plus they let you take it around and shop, unlike HT which has you on lock down at the bar.
Yes, I think it's a really neat feature in the store. I go to the Knightdale one and enjoy discovering new beers, and I have a growler. I never thought I'd be into beers, I'm a gin and tonic person, but I really enjoy a nice IPA and the thrill of the hunt for new stuff, LOL!!
The few times that I've been to Lowes I've dropped by to check out the selection at the Bear Den. Good selection but most of the time it's hoppy beer or high alcohol beer. Since I like low IBU/alcohol beer I end up buying from Beer Durham. Their rotating stock usually has 1-3 beers that fit my liking. And, my wife works on the same street so its location is very convenient.
Too bad Beer Durham just ran out of Deschutes Black Butte. One of my favorites!
It's cool you can drink in the store but there are no Lowes near me. I'd rather shop at one of the local bottle shops most of the time anyway. The only time I ever buy beer at a grocery store is during a late night run when all my regular places are closed.

I'm not a beer snob - I just hate grocery shopping.
