Maybe handling both the Academy Street Bistro and Lugano's was too much?
I've never been to Lugano's, but always meant to go to Academy Street. The menu prices for this kind of food were surprisingly reasonable - maybe that accounts for the BK? (we never went because I looked at the wine list and balked.)
I never fully understood what happened when he transitioned from Biaggi's to Lugano but kept basically the same menu. Did he go rogue, or was there some other arrangement with Biaggi's there? Under either name, we've always enjoyed it for extended family dinners...decent food and a good "fancy-ish" experience for kids.
Have not had a chance to get over to Academy Street Bistro since he took it over.

Biaggi was a chain who sold out to the staff, the Lugano's.
Yeah, but why? Biaggi's has locations in numerous states, so I wonder why they wanted to get out and would agree to let Lugano keep the Biaggi's menu.
I'm sure Biaggi's felt they weren't getting return on their investment.
And, IIRC, I think they felt over-extended geographically, that Cary was an outlier on the location map.
Seems so, looking at this map: https://www.biaggis.com/locations/
Even if a place is busy, it doesn't mean that the owner/management are running their business properly. And cash flow is often the major problem.
Yeah I realize. I was just too lazy to type out the multitude of possibilities with this. It's weird because you see all the people, but obviously there's something janky going on behind the scenes if you can't make it work.
My husband went there for takeout about a year ago and they were rude and unreasonable about it. We get takeout from all kinds of establishments and NEVER have an issue. DH called it quits and left and went to Lubrano's...which I think changed names as well. At any rate, crowds or no, they obviously had management and customer service issues. Kiss of death in that industry.
