I love making pizza. We make our own dough, as it's not too hard. For sauce we use Classico Riserva sauce bought on sale, reg price is around $5 but normally Publix has BOGO and we stock up.

If you want a really nice tasting crust smash up a garlic clove and put it in a small bowl with butter and heat it up in the microwave to melt the butter, then brush on to the crust after the pizza cooks.

We cook ours in the regular oven at 550*. It preheats about :30 with a pizza stone.

Spinach, turkey peperoni, onion, green pepper, tomato, chicken, and goat cheese pizza.

Pizza at home (because we named our area after the shape of a slice)... also, where do you find good dough locally?-win_20170919_10_32_22_pro.jpg

Thanks! The Hawaiian was for the kids (though I'd be lying if I said I didn't like it, too). I typically do more "adult" type pizzas for us. One useful tip I've found is the mini mozzarella balls are nice to drop right onto pizzas without having to cut/slice first.

I love how the breads turn out--a banneton proofing basket gives them the cool spiral look and putting them in a dutch oven to bake forces them to rise upwards which cracks open the top to give it the final look. Other times, I'll pre-slice the tops in a crosscut to give them a little different look.

I love reading all about making pizza. Makes me want to try it. Are there other places besides TJ's that have good dough for sale? I am too lazy to drive the 25 minutes for just some dough.
If we have pizza made at home I buy the pre-made dough and it is never that good. My problem has always been the soggy-ness after taking it out of the oven. How do you stop that? I am not a big sauce fan and so I usually take crushed tomatoes and drain/ squeeze them real good and then add in some Italian seasoning to it.

New theme of thread: "Best places in the Triangle to buy pizza dough."

That'll take care of the one poster's lamentations about where this thread belongs.

Mellow Mushroom used to sell their dough, but it is slightly different than traditional pizza dough.
Oh and I think TJ pizza dough freezes just fine if you want to stock up.

Preheat the oven with the pizza stone in it

Dough is so easy to make. Flour yeast little but of sugar and salt and some olive oil plus water. Before we got a KitchenAid mixer I would knead it by hand. Numerous recipes online for pizza dough they are all pretty much the same.

I make mine with cool water and let if proof up in the fridge. Remove around 2pm the day of eating it to warm it up.
