My wife keeps getting automated phone calls from Wake County Schools, but we don't have any kids. What I found online wasn't helpful, since it says to contact your child's school to update phone numbers or create an account. Obviously whoever used to have my wife's phone number hasn't bothered to update their number.

Any idea where to begin? Or should we just start at the district office and hope someone can actually help?

That's probably your best (only?) option. Either that, or blocking the number (assuming the calls are coming to her cell phone.

The numbers are stored at the school so if this is a cell phone I would just block the number and save yourself the headache of trying to get wcpss to remove the number. Just an aside, the calls have been out of control lately....I feel like they are calling all the time.

Funny you mention, I received two calls from WCPS yesterday (no kids, here!). I did just block the number...there was no message on either call.

Yes, it's her cell phone. I hadn't thought about blocking the number... I don't think I have ever blocked one. lol

She mentioned the same thing about the call volume and being glad she doesn't actually have to listen to them!

Good luck, we had the same problem when we moved here. Also some guy that didn't pay any bills and whose kids skipped school all the time had my number. Eventually it stops but it took years. Calling the schools did zero help, they would just play dumb.

Try WCPSS HQ and ask if someone in the IT department can assist.

I understand their approach. If my kids were skipping school (and I didn't care), I would love it if the next time they called me asking why my kids weren't in school, I could just tell them they had the wrong number, this phone doesn't belong to truant kids parent. Problem solved.

Turns out I do know who runs it lol.

Call WCPSS customer service number 919-431-7400 and let them know the issue. It'll get forwarded to the right people and hopefully the calls will stop.
