My husband and I are considering moving to the Wake Forest/Youngsville area to be closer to family. We currently live outside of Nashville, TN. We are looking for neighborhoods with 1+ acres of land, 4 bedroom houses, newer builds (wouldn't mind a brand new house or building on land), and less than $400,000. We do not have kids yet but a good school system would be nice.

We are going to be visiting the area this week and I wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions of good neighborhoods we should drive through

I've looked through previous posts but haven't seen many suggestions, so any input would be greatly appreciated!

If you're looking for good schools, stay in Wake County. Also, just so you know, schools here are county-based. Finding 1+ acres may be tough though in Wake County.

West of Wake Forest, around Falls Lake, it is easy to find 1+ acre newer builds, but the $400k budget probably won't get you there.

I'd say those 3 criteria could make it difficult, but depends how far you want to drive, and where you'll work. It'll be achievable if you're willing to drop the new criteria. Or if you drop the good school system, you'll have tons options in youngsville/Franklin County.

in the last 6 months, 24 homes have met your basic criteria (built since 2010 = newer in my book).

They are mostly concentrated in the east and SE fringes of the County - Wendell, and the area between Garner and Fuquay.

I'd stay in wake county too for school purposes. If you drop the 1 acre requirement or the new build you will be able to find something in your budget. Youngsville may have more options but worse schools. Maybe you can find a home on a smaller lot that backs up to woods or a park?

If you were willing to live with a 1/4 - 1/2 acre lot you could easily find what you need in your price range.
Over 1 acre is hard to find in that price point and even if you found land to build on I think the land + build cost would be over $400K for a typical 4-bedroom home.
