We are in the IEP process and I am trying to learn about our options for our daughter before we are blindsided at the meeting. I don't know how to find out about available blended classrooms on my own. Do I have to just wait until the meeting? We are in Wake Forest. I've about googled myself to death! Thank-you
Our grandson took 2 years of WCPSS Pre-K including a blended class at Beaverdam. His issue was speech.
He did well and is a great success this year at KG. He even reads books and counts to 100.
In the first year of Pre-K there were 12 students. Ten were there for ESL. Our grandson even picked up some Spanish and it helped him have an appreciation of diversity.
I think the important thing to note, which seems to be the information that you're after, is that not all schools have preK...I wouldn't expect to be "blindsided" because you're not going to have a lot of choice in the matter. The classes are where they are. What issue(s) are you getting the IEP for?
Are you talking about an inclusive classroom? We just went through this process in May. WCPSS was great to work with and in the end, placed my daughter in a full day program at a private preschool. She also receives transportation. She receives her therapy at the school by their staff therapist. It has been a very positive experience so far.

My grandson went to WCPSS schools for both Pre-K years. One was Poe and the other was Beaverdam.
He now attends Forestville Elementary for KG and loves it.
