Preference is Dharani, I'll probably call them if I can break away from my work.

Daughter and I, just the two of us, are celebrating T-day, she is up for a buffet. Options I know of are of course Hotels, probably some Chinese places, maybe a few Pubs. She (and I) would LOVE a really good Indian Buffet (Irony noted, hahahaha). Anyone know of any?

Secondary, I'd be interested in a list of ALL recommended places for T-day dinner, and if reservations are suggested, or other tips or info. I'm sure others would benefit from this too.

Happy Holidays, y'all.

Here's the list from the N&O...I don't see any Indian places on there...

Boston Market (sorry, not Indian, but I'm sure worth mentioning for someone out there!) is also open on Thanksgiving. They do heat and serve meals for carry-out, as well as individual and family meals for dining in.

The N&O list is mostly for restaurants doing Thanksgiving-specific feasts. Lots of prix fixe listings. I'm sure there must be more restaurants that are open on Thanksgiving, though I don't know of a specific list.

This was really helpful. I encourage anyone who is planning to go out to look at this list, as it gave me a few new ideas I hadn't considered. Reps sent, and thanks!

Update: I called Dharani, and they are going to decide by end of this week if they will open on T-day or not. I've now got a few non-Indian options, but still interested, if anyone knows a great Indian Buffet that is doing something special, that would be great. It's among my daughters and my favorite food-types.

Dharani is good and I also like Basera in Durham. Give them a call to see if they will be open.

I thought most ethnic options (maybe not every single restaurant, but cuisines well-represented) were readily available on Western/American holidays.

I did lol at wanting to dine at an Indian restaurant being ironic though. I think they're 2 very different sets of folks, but I could be wrong.

My favorite Indian Restaurant is Kadhai in Pleasant Valley Shopping Center (Glenwood & Millbrook area)
I don't know about their holiday hours or buffet possibilities.
For what it is worth I have some Indian friends that say this place is the best around.

I have seen a buffet there, maybe it is a lunch time thing ??

Kadhai is indeed good. I believe the owners are Bengali so their cooking favors that style of Indian food, not too spicy like some of the South Indian restaurants. Yes, they only have buffet at lunch. It is not, however, the best Indian restaurant in the Triangle. IMO, that honor goes to Cholanad in Chapel Hill. Cholanad does not offer any buffets, however.
