Is there anyone that buys trees from smaller lots in the Rocky Mount/Wilson area? My husband and I just bought a lot (1.25 acres, .75 acres that we want cleared) in Elm City that is very wooded with tall trees. I will eventually just get someone to clear it, but I hate to see the trees go to waste.
you can get a list of local timber buyers from the state's ncforestservice.gov website. they are listed by county name. includes phone numbers, and sometimes email addresses. it will be difficult, you may have to give away the trees. most loggers and timber buyers work on 'volume' = large tracts with weeks worth of work.
Having been through this process with 6 acres, I suspect you will have a difficult time finding someone to do a lot of that size unless the prices are really high right now. Also keep in mind that when they cut the trees, they will not be flush to the ground. In the end, a good portion of the money I made on the lumber went to stump grinders! Best of luck.

They won't go to waste. If they are marketable, they will sell them. The question is whether or not he juice is worth the squeeze for them to pay you. I don't know where their break even is on lot size/tree volume, but often as not even if you're paying a guy to take three trees off your lot, if he can sell them he will. It just doesn't cover the cost of fuel, labor, equipment, etc...so he charges you.

Don't know what the prices are but they can't be that high. My hunting lease was cruised this spring. Timber company told me they were going to clearcut as soon as they found a buyer. No buyer found. Up and down the road there are signs advertising the timber on other pieces of property, so I can't imagine the market is that firm right now.
I am finding that no one wants to buy trees from so small a lot. Does anyone know of any good/reputable land clearing companies in the Rocky Mount/Wilson area?
You could always post a craigslist ad for free firewood, they just have to come and get it lol
