"For the second year in a row, Forbes magazine deemed the City of Oaks the nation's best for business and careers. It got top honors partly because of this region's strong job growth."

#1 Raleigh NC - Forbes.com

I'm not a big believer in these rankings, but clearly this gets the attention of those considering moving here.

Only time will tell..............

We live in a great area of the country. Thanks for finding the article.

I give it 3.5 seconds before the negative nellies pile on about the article being wrong.

Durham is #12 on the list. Another plus!

I'm just surprised to see Boise, Idaho is ranked #2. Who knew?!

Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't mean to leave out Durham .... I just failed to take a hard look at the list.

So...the Census Bureau splits up the Triangle into two different metros and both of them end up in the top 12 in the country...not bad at all....not bad at all.

I'll have to go look at the entire list and see how badly Miami ranks. :-)

That surprised me too, as I lived in Boise for about 10 months and couldn't leave fast enough. But that helps me understand the poll. It really is "Best for Business" more than any other factor. And yes, Boise is growing fast and has a strong economic community. The fact that I couldn't take the high desert climate is irrelevant to their analysis (I won't even go into my other issues with the place).

It is interesting though, that I'd say there are major employers both here and Boise that are not in great shape, which makes me wonder how the rest of the world is doing! Here I know the pharmaceutical firms have had a lot of layoffs, and in Boise one of the major employers is Micron, and semiconductors are not doing well.

Perhaps what the ranking says is that in both places there is sufficient economic diversity to weather the tough times ... let's hope so!

Right! (Well, I dunno about Miami.)

And North Carolina is well represented by other towns, too.
