I can’t imagine it’ll ever get off the ground.

That article even says construction wouldn’t start for 18 months, if ever. It’s all just a pipe dream.

Isn't there a whirligig park in Wilson now?

Well, yes, but that’s just a park with actual whirligigs.

Whirligig Woods in Saxapahaw would be a theme park with rides and a resort.

I think the City of Wilson did a great job with this. I am looking forward to going back.

Off the original topic, but yes, the whirligig park in Wilson is very cool. We went for their annual Whirligig Festival. Even tho it was a very cloudy day it was fun and crowded. The whirligigs are massive. There's lots of pictures of them on Yelp under Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park.

Unsurprisingly, the Whirligig Woods plan is dead.

I'm still waiting on the castle themed restaurant on East Chatham Street.

I don't have any data, but I would guess that the population of the Triangle is the largest in the country without an amusement park within 2 hours away. Carowinds and Kings Dominion are 3+ hours away and I'm not counting the water park in Greensboro.

Everyone I've mentioned it to say that land would just be too expensive. Where would it go? Some have suggested I-40/I-95 , but I think that's too far away from the population of the Triangle.
