The only issue we've ever had with Indians is the pungent aroma of some of their foods.
It can be so pungent that someone near you in the gym having eaten some of the pungent food emits such a smell that you need to move away or breathe through your mouth.
Same in apartments. The smells of some Indian cuisine can force you out.
One day, an Indian group rented the clubhouse in our previous community. The clubhouse and attached gym needed a long airing out before most of us could use it again.
Since the rental agreement for the clubhouse did not restrict what could be cooked, the management revoked the use of the clubhouse for food service.
Yeah heavy curry use does not leave....ever. Made the mistake of buying a condo with a curry odor.

Amen!
When we lived in Manhattan, a very sick Indian boy poured hot curry out of a 6th floor window. Luckily, it landed on a car hood and burned off the paint.
NYPD swat was there and I wished they would have taken out the SOB with a sharpshooter.
Showed one house where there was a faint whiff of curry. Opened a door. The pantry, et voila! That is where it had been stored.
Curry aroma would not keep me from buying a house I liked.
It doesn't bother me. I've smelled plenty of stuff in houses that would make a curry aroma feel homey and inviting in comparison.
I would definitely rather buy a "curry house" than one with no cooking aromas, but where the dogs had peed through the carpet and into the subfloor. Every day, every time.

Well yes, curry does smell better than dog p*ss I suppose.
You're a realtor in an area with a heavy Indian population - of course you're going to say that

Seriously? No. Wrong. How shallow and hardly worth response, but I have coffee, so I will play:
I am first a person with a common sense approach to housing, in a chronic low inventory market.
With experience supporting my common sense, that experience enhanced by working as a real estate agent.
I never experienced any contact with curry until I lived here, but it just doesn't faze me.

But it fazes a lot of people - and if it does, you're replacing flooring, you're painting every wall and ceiling in the house, and then if you're lucky maybe the smell is better or gone.

Curry is no joke.
Anyhow, this is way off topic.
It is hardly off topic.
The OP asked how Indians and Indian culture are perceived.
You have a perception to share.
This is a consideration when apartment hunting oveseas, some RE agents favor or not potential tenants, and how they market apartments where the prior tenant did or didn't cook this way.
