Hope they stop driving when sundown comes. Where are they headed in Florida? We just drove up from South Florida on Monday. My parents are snowbirds in Delray Beach.
The Villages in Lady Lake. If you're not familiar, it's about an hour north of Orlando. (and if anyone is familiar, no, my parents don't do "that" )
I just checked in about an hour ago and they were in Florida but they got off 95.
They checked in throughout the day and the worst section was 95 by Charleston SC. I was checking traffic for them and it was a deep maroon on the severity scale. Pretty bad.

No kidding.
It was wild.
Ice is pretty scary, how something so seemingly fragile can cause serious problems.
Similar thing happened to me in 1996 but in NY. Luckily, I was able to crawl out a 2nd story window onto the garage roof and jump off into a drift so I could clear a path to the door. I was a Paramedic and due for a shift at my ambulance corps so I didn't have a choice.
I'll take these 1 to 2 inch storms over that any day.
Ok, I skipped over 12 pages so I hope this hasn't been mentioned -- when you live in the modern subdivision without trees, the snow/ice melts faster than in neighborhoods with mature shade trees.

My neighborhood is full sun. Ice and snow disappeared yesterday from streets and driveways by noon
Thinking Wake is going to close tomorrow. I live in Cary and the town does not plow my street so we still have sections that are ice covered. I am guessing this is the case elsewhere and since the high today is 30, that spells another snow day in my book. I would love to be wrong because it feels like my kids have been off for three weeks!

That would be just sad. I've driven all over the place and have seen very little ice anywhere.

I am hoping for no more than a 2 hour delay.
I think the next day off takes away the 1st day of Spring Break (technically a teacher workday).
That’s ridiculous, no need to close schools tomorrow. A 20,000 pound school bus can do just fine over the small ice patches that remain.
