Our street hardly ever gets plowed. I have an 11am appt and it will be interesting to see if I can get up our slight hill to get out of my cul de sac. As of now it's mostly compacted ice with some areas of iced over slush from all the car and kid/sled traffic.
It really is pretty funny how good they are with plowing relative to other areas. It's like they train all year for this moment. I like to imagine them going in the morning of a snowstorm and their leader gives them this really inspiring pep talk, akin to a coach at half-time. Everyone's really moved, queue "Eye of the Tiger" starting to play in the background, and they all speed off to plow everything for great justice.
LOL...they actually do have a training day in the fall, usually October...maybe something other towns should consider.
Honestly it's nice to see people take some pride in their work, whatever it may be.
Pretty surprised at how bad Estes Drive was in Chapel Hill this morning.
Also the amount of people who don't think to clear off the 9 inch layer of snow off the top of their vehicle before driving around is scary.
This used to drive me absolutely insane up north. It just goes to show how little people care about others. Trust me it's not that they didn't think about it, it's that they're lazy and just don't care.

I saw folks on Nextdoor talking about Estes. It sure is melting fast now, though, at least in the sunny spots. It's just drip-drip-dripping in my back yard. I'm ready for it to be gone, too.

My road was plowed on Thursday, before I woke up. I live in an older neighborhood, on a short, 1-block road that nobody even uses. They had even plowed cul-de-sacs. Very impressive.
I saw on the news that Cary devotes all their city trucks to main roads (Pkwy, Davis, etc...) and they actually contract out with people to do the neighborhoods. Very smart, IMO. So you may see an F-150 with a plow in your hood, but it gets done.
They said that they had hoped to have plowed every road in Cary by the end of day yesterday (Thursday), less than 24 hours after the storm ended.
I love living in Cary. (We are very close to the Apex border. We went to Costco yesterday, and the contrast was obvious on side-roads. Apex vs Cary.)

I know people like to "hate" on Cary, but this is another example of how the town has their ______ together. Throw in award winning parks and rec, cultural events, amenities, employment opportunities, an up and coming downtown, all with a very reasonable (and free) commute to both RTP and Raleigh, and I scratch my head when posters inquire about relocating here and state they are considering every area except for Cary.... just to squeeze out a little more house for the money Especially anymore with the price gap narrowed.... new builds in Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, and Wake Forest are not that cheap..... anymore. Icing on the cake = Cary has the lowest property tax rate in Wake County 2017 Wake County Property Tax Rates | Buying a New Home in Wake County NC
IMHO, hard to beat the QOL Cary offers. Viva la Cary! Just remember it's a "town", not a city or a village
The two exits from my neighborhood still have a solid sheet of ice over them...ugh. I have to drive somewhere at 5 a.m. tomorrow. But I think it's going to stay above freezing pretty late tonight. MELT, PLEASE.
