I am that rare person (on these boards at least) that does about 95% of my grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. I am mostly vegan and regularly buy lettuce/cucumbers/broccoli florets/organic carrots/peppers/etc. to make my daily lunch salads, bananas, oranges, soy milk ($1.79/quart and no ingredients other than soy beans), dog food (big can $1.49, no meat byproducts), and no sugar added instant oatmeal. I've also bought cocoa powder, canned beans (organic/low salt), whole wheat pasta, low salt tomato sauce, olives, and salad dressing. From their frozen section I like the broccoli, green/red/yellow pepper slices, roasted corn, roasted cauliflower, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting. I used to buy frozen fruit for smoothies there, but have switched to jumbo bags from Costco. I go to Whole Foods for things like dried beans, jalapenos, bulk spices and maybe a random ingredient I need for a recipe. I rarely set foot in another grocery store chain. It works for me!

PS - I checked out Lidl last month and thought it was just plain odd. The $.89 pineapple was good but I wasn't impressed with a couple store brand things I bought (including pita crackers that were not very pita like at all). If there was one 5 minutes from my house I might stop in, but I definitely wouldn't drive a distance to go to one.

I'll check Wegman's out when it opens in Chapel Hill, but doubt it will make the regular cut. Just a little too far away from my house. Don't shop at Fresh Market, either .

I can be in and out of a grocery store, doing a regular week's shopping, in 30-40 min including drive time.

Got the Blood Orange drink. NASTY! Got the cheap frozen veggies but hubby wasn't thrilled that they all came from places we couldn't pronounce! Got a few other things but really...just didn't find anything that thrilled me.

Then there was the guy who kept wishing for a Friendly's. Found one in another state on a visit and stopped in. Ice Cream. Not as good as Haagen Dazs but ok.

My grandparents all lived in Florida so I was well used to Publix. Another Harris Teeter, to me.

Then there was Aldi and Lidl. NOT impressed.

I shop at Lowes Foods. Get my meat from Costco. A few things like Guac and salsa from Whole Foods. That's it. I don't need any more grocery stores to keep me happy.

And, I've decided...not taking suggestions from this group anymore!!!
Hi Vicki.

Guess I'm different. We love our Walmart Supercenter.

Great, friendly crew.

Future Site! Cary, NC
, Cary Towne Boulevard and Interstate 40*in Wake County
Future Site! West Cary, NC,
Davis Drive and Airport Boulevard*in Wake County
The Cary Town Boulevard location was first in the conversation, but Davis Drive got the approval. I don't know if Wegmans' is still part of the Eastern Gateway proposal.

Unless I have a specific preference for a grocery item I will buy whatever has the lowest cost. So I'm fine with shopping at Aldi or Lidl. Except that the local chains are all closer to me than them.

That might be a new record. I am not a huge fan, and doubt I'll be there more than once or twice per year, but I'm glad they are coming, and I'm happy for those who are over-the-top thrilled. (Sincerely)

I am glad for the answers so far, expecially the Davis Drive store (Mid summer 2019), as that is on my way home from work.

I wonder if Wegmans serves decent pizza.....
Wegman's brings back fond memories of my childhood I grew up in Syracuse, NY and that was the grocery store that we went to of course.

Wegman's does have good pizza The white cheese garlic pizza is particularly good IMO and the prices are very reasonable.

Wegmans is still a cornerstone of the Eastern Gateway project and will be in the first phase. It’s just taking longer than the other Wegmans projects because it’s part of a rezoning and master plan for a massive mixed-use project of between 1.8 and 2.8 million square feet. Lot of hoops to jump through with the town, but they’re getting there.
