I disagree. I feel the state's residents are pretty supportive of everything inside the border.

I don't see nearly the amount of rural vs. urban disdain that what has plagued Georgia for so long.

I can't think of any rural counties in central/Eastern NC where I've heard anything derogatory said about the Triangle cities.

It rural folks are responsible for this extreme legislature, what was different in the previous 2-3 decades that democrats were elected over and over?

Gerrymandering probably has something to do with that.

You may not like to hear the dirty underbelly of Apple but I think when a trillion dollar company tries to squeeze money from small municipalities while allowing humans to be treated less than what the CEO would treat his own executives like, I don't think it's a hee haw jab. Jobs or not. It is what it is.

It's always small inconveniences for us when the suffering is so far away. But by all means. Give Apple what it wants. Give Apple the handouts so you can have your 2,000 jobs. They are important.

Amazon is no different. People are literally dying in their warehouses. Can't get pee breaks. But jobs are jobs.

Good ole American capitalism at its finest!

Do I think all employees should be paid and treated like executives? No. But Apple has the power and the resources to make sure every part in its products are made in certified factories that treat their employees better than what has been allowed. But Apple looks the other way because it helps their bottom line and it works for them.

We moved from hee haw Jabs to hee haw arguments.

So you don’t want Apple and Amazon jobs because they are killing people in Agrabah?

Have you ever taken a college ethics class? There are several different theories of ethics. It’s very much utilitarianism for Apple and Amazon to have reserves of setting up shop in Raleigh because of NC’s backwards reputation and still do business and have factories in areas with extreme poverty or more oppressive governments:

Quote:
Utilitarianism holds that the most ethical choice is the one that will produce the greatest good for the greatest number. It is the only moral framework that can be used to justify military force or war. It is also the most common approach to moral reasoning used in business because of the way in which it accounts for costs and benefits.

This week, there are both reports of Amazon and Apple separately citing concerns of LGBT rights and NC not being a cultural fit. In Amazon list that list the strengths of all the cities, Raleigh has consistently been dinged for LGBT rights and other cultural (voting rights, discrimination, etc) concerns.

But telling Apple and Amazon their hypocrites and to take their liberal jobs and shove it is not going to Make NC great again.... and it’s not good economic policy. And they have a corporate responsibility to protect their image and apparently LGBT and other organizations are very much against Apple or Amazon coming to Raleigh.

Um, a TON has changed in 20-30 years. Voting patterns have changed. A lot of rural blue dog democrats wouldn’t dare vote for Pelosi or swamp democrats. There’s been a realignment in politics.

Be hard to vote for Pelosi in North Carolina.

Apple is concerned about gay and lesbian rights yet choose to manufacture their products in a state that has been ranked as the worst place in the world to live if gay?

Is this some alternate universe we are living in? I mean, you'd think if they really GAS about LBGT "rights" they wouldn't support almost FIVE MILLION jobs in that country, right?

Is being hypocritical OK nowadays?

Or how about Amazon's move to reduce Seattle headcount in a move to kill the headcount tax in order to support the city's homeless population?

Companies don’t care about morals. It’s all about the bottom line and what will make their target demographic happy and keep buying their stuff.
