Forgot about Amazon for a second, how many new jobs will the Triangle gain from now until 2038? How many jobs will the Triangle lose over that time?
Basically, what do think the net gain of jobs will be over the next 20 years for the area?
10,000?
20,000?
30,000?
50,000?
100,000?
If the Triangle does land HQ2 (which I don't believe, but that's not the point), I feel the incremental increase in jobs by Amazon, is not going to destroy the Triangle.
1. I didn't say it would "destroy" the Triangle.
2. All the Amazon jobs will be located in one place, not spread out among the entire geography of the Triangle. That creates a very different situation.

While it does create a different situation, there could also be solutions created if need be.
But don't worry, Amazon is not choosing the Triangle!
Can't this be argued for any large company with well paid employees that opens up shop in the Triangle? What if it was another big company instead of Amazon. Like another Pharma or Software Company? Would people be against that too? I get why some people have issues with Amazon - but the growth / traffic / home values argument is a universal issue not unique Amazon.
I don't think Amazon is going to pick the Triangle, but are people really lining up against the possibility of other companies with good paying jobs setting up shop in the Triangle?
You're probably correct, assuming that the other company is bringing 50,000+ employees AND their families into the area. And my reaction to that would be the same.
That said, if Amazon said that it was going somewhere else, I wouldn't care. Honestly, I'm not even a big fan of Amazon; I only use that site for odds and ends.

I'm with CNBC on this. I'm seeing things that make me believe that Raleigh has a good shot. My top three list is:
1) DC/MontCo/NoVa
2) Atlanta
3) Raleigh
