I put the feeder up yesterday (4/1/2018) and was surprised to see a hummingbird stopping by for a drink! I had thought it was too early, but wanted to get the feeder out just in case.
Aw, love them. No feeders this year because I'll be traveling a lot and won't be able to keep them clean or filled. BUT I have plenty of bee balm planted and will add some other hummingbird friendly plants.
I've tracked the arrival date for years. Never had one (near Falls Lake) earlier than the 1st week of April over the last 20 years. Haven't seen any yet but they are almost always spotted by the 8th.
I never put nectar out this early, but I think I'll make some in the morning and get it out. I usually offer it in late June or so...after the nesting season. We'll see what happens.
That was quick just got one at the feeder. A fat little dude too.
