I read in the Wake Weekly this passed thursday that they are not filling the pool this summer, unless something drastic happens with the drought. They lose too much water per day over the summer months to be able to continually refill.
Normally, you can get a pass for the summer, which is not too expensive, but the pool is open to the public from noon until 7 during the week and all day on the weekends. They usually have swim lessons before noon during the week, and people can pay as they go, 2 bucks a kid and 4 for adults, I think, or get the pass.
My guess is though, that pool will not be open, and the wake forest country club pool is not open. The only alternatives are going to millbrook exchange, which just finished their renovations, and you can buy a pass through the city of raleigh, or pay as you go.
We did swim lessons at millbrook, and it was nice enough.
You can join the Y for about 700 a year if you do an adult and dependents, instead of entire family.
The town will make the decision by May 1 if the pool will open or not. Who knows at this point, but they seem to be leaning toward not opening it.
Millbrook exchange is probably 15 minutes?, 20 minutes? Not horrible.
The Y works out if you plan on using it for more than just the pool, at least for me. I resisted the first 2 years I was in wake forest, then decided to take the plunge. I would love to have my own backyard pool, but I don't see that happening for a couple of years.
Do they have any chairs around the pool? From the pictures I can't see any.
I am planning on going to this pool once it opens next week. I don't know much about it now, but will share once I find out some info. Might post a picture or two as well.
