I miss the days when 90% of all speeding tickets were on Maynard/Pamlico. Now it seems like they are all over the place..

I’ll have to agree with you on that one. Easy pickings. Set a speed limit too low for political reasons, pick people off left and right.

Sure, some speeding is dangerous, but considering how many places the roads are of a design for faster traffic and they set the speed limit lower for various feel good reasons, I wouldn’t say all is. Just like I wouldn’t say going below the limit is automatically safer. I’ve seen people going 10-15 under, cutting across 3 lanes to turn or generally making unsafe movements.

Possible reason:

We are a nation of immigrants.
Many go back to their countries for a a month or so, and perhaps drive or ride in a vehicle.
Red light enforcement may be scarce.
They return here and may forget to observe the red lights.
Maybe I'm wrong, and this may be an over-reaction to:
