Facts and factoids aside, I have a very reliable gut, and that gut of mine tells me that I feel more unsafe here than any other place I've lived. Not to the point of fear, but the feeling that anything could happen in a parking lot or open area. Heck I got approached in one of the nicest areas in the area in front of a high-end supermarket at 10pm one night which was quite unsettling. And I have better street sense than a lot of people. And as mentioned earlier I experienced a traumatic event here which I'm not sure I will discuss on the forum.
I find myself avoiding going out at night, something I never did in any other place I've lived including various places up north, which to some, have a worse crime stereotype. It's also made me have second thoughts about renting a house rather than an apartment, there's just too many break in and shooting stories here than anywhere else I've lived. This is all in addition to the aggression I feel on the roads nearly every day here that I never sensed anywhere else, including again in various places in the NE.
Having said that, as this poster said, If I was that uncomfortable, I would have moved by now. Work moved me here, other work may move me away, and who knows if any new location would feel any more or less safe. But I've learned to always go with my gut.
Money attracts crime. Not everyone coming here has good intentions.
Wow, second degree murder in Cary. Looks like these residents were in Cary since the 70's at least. Now the plague has infected locals...or maybe folks like to sensationalize certain types of crimes over others.
Domestic incidents happen everywhere regardless of general neighborhood...this one wasn't even quite within Cary town limits. While domestics are unfortunate, they generally don't put the general public at risk. This doesn't even appear to have been a violent domestic incident...looks like more of a neglect issue. Sad.
Very good. 1 down, 2 more to go. They'll get them. A reward helps ensure that.
