I love budget airlines. I don't care for a little bit of discomfort since I'm in good health and generally have good posture not to fatigue myself on up to 13 hour flight. I've done more than 15 transatlantic flights using budget airlines and its perfectly fine. Flying Norwegian to Paris in a week, $200 round trip from New York and personally I think the carry-on limits are fair and sufficient for a three week trip.
WOW or Norwegian budget airlines are slowly adding more US airports to their lineup. The next biggest airport south of DC is RDU so I would love for them to set up a daily to Europe. The new 737-Max has a max range of 4,035 nmi which is enough to reach Shannon or Dublin, any of the London airports and just barely Paris.
Very psyched about this because I need to go to Syracuse regularly to help with a very ill parent. Have been driving but it's nice to know direct flight is an option this summer.
What I liked about flying into Syracuse during a snowstorm once was seeing a snow covered plastic pink flamingo right off the runway. Gotta love their humor!

I'm going to Norway this summer and am flying Norwegian out of Boston - would be awesome if they had a Raleigh flight!
I would find anything over 2 1/2 hours to be painful on Frontier but these new flights will be under that amount of time. I am not tall but the seats seem really short under your legs, hard and uncomfortable. Plus a weird curve for your back. My husband (over 6 feet) said never again for a long flight.
I still like SW Air as we can change tickets easily and/or get credit instead of a non-refundable situation. The free bag check is helpful, too, when needed but direct flights can be worth some discomfort.
I really hope Norwegian comes to RDU but they supposedly have been looking at Baltimore, Maybe we will luck out if that airport doesn't work out.
