Welp, the Great Raleigh Donut Riot of 2018 is over
the histrionics were laughable, but indicative of what our society has allowed ourselves to become in the internet-enabled, 24 hour news-cycle driven device-dependent world.
And yes, nostagic. When I was a teenager in Fayetteville, Krispy Kreme was one of the few places we could go late at night to hang out.
Kids in the neighborhood go over to the Person St. location quite a lot. I was there for Free Donut Day recently and the atmosphere was festive and neighborly.
Iconic or not, it would be a big loss if the plan were to tear that store down and put up an apartment block.
I'm a Peace girl. Lots of memories of going to KK. Relived some when my daughter became a Peace girl, too!
Hooray! Raleigh's character is restored! The OP can once again tease the Charlotteans about their lack of identity!
Will do! But sadly I won’t be able to do so long ... Raleigh is headed down the same path a Charlotte ... but the small victories are important ... this is one of those !

Step 1: Drive to Carolina Beach
Step 2: Stop at Britts donuts
Step 3: Eat a Britts donut and forget Krispy Kreme even exists
You're welcome.
Britt's IS wonderful. But then again, so are hot and fresh Krispy Kremes. There's room for both. And others.
