Long story short a tree the builder planted died now I have a 5' dirt circle. I am not going to plant another tree in this area.

I want to make a plant bed a little larger and was thinking of transplanting this sod in the bare area. Is it too early or is already too late now to do this?

Certainly not too late. You can do that right through the summer.

Too early? I think not.
I know that Bermuda and Zoysia sod are being installed currently.

Bermuda needs heat to take root really well. I'd wait a bit. But it will be hot enough very soon.

We have neighbors that put down sod in February. it still hasn't taken root.

I have been putting out Bermuda sod for the last few weeks. (I am cheap - I just buy a couple pieces at a time, so I can put them in before they dry out.). The ones I put in at first were fully dormant, and are already starting to green up.

Get Tif -Tuf at SuperSod. It looks great.

So is the consensus to wait a week or so or give it a go this weekend?

It doesn't matter; either is fine.

That's right. Put it down. They put sod down here this winter that looked dead as a door nail. It's greening up nicely now.

I am in the process of installing 4500 sq ft of zoysia sod in my back yard. Tilled the soil on Thursday. Spread organic topsoil and raked yesterday. Installing the sod today.

The information that I read indicated that late spring to late summer is fine for warm season grasses.

Just make sure to keep it wet. You need to water morning and night and hose it down every couple of hours.
