Williams sees his career end in sight and is emotional about it and desperate, maybe?
The fans holding up "Bruins Like Poop Sandwiches" signs would have been more fun with a win...
Don't know quite how to explain it, it's almost as if he is over it and tired so he is sabotaging it by doing stupid things on the ice. How is he helping us while he's in the box? He's not, he's helping Boston. It's extremely un-captain like and out of character for him to be taking all these stupid penalties.
Yes, I thought Williams went over the edge, but don't hang the loss on him alone. Against an ordinary goalie or a great goalie having just an ordinary night, the Canes would have scored twice, maybe three times in the first 10 minutes when they absolutely dominated play. The Canes had other opportunities to score later in the game, too. You're not going to beat Boston by scoring a single goal in regulation; they have too much firepower for that. Rask played great, and you have to give Boston credit by hanging in there while the ice was tilted against them and then making a push in the second period.

Oh, I'm not blaming it all on him, not one bit. I was just trying to explain my thinking.
Rask was ridiculous last night! We had PLENTY of chances and couldn't make it happen.

I had NHL on SiriusXM on much of the afternoon in the office, and different people kept going on and on about whether the Canes should have Mrazek or Mac in net.
I called in and told them to flip a coin, because either one was good enough and the 5 guys in front of either goalie would have to play and the only goalie I was concerned with was Rask.
I could have engraved that in granite.
Same story tomorrow night. Beat Rask, and we win.

They beat Rask, repeatedly. They missed wide open nets that will not be missed by the Sharks or the Blues.
This should be a 2-1 series one way or another if the Canes just hit the wide open nets.

Wellll…. "If you want to be the man, you have to beat the man."
Or something like that....
