That's funny, but I wish the Canes would find a way to keep him. In one of the articles on the Athletic, the discussion was the Canes were searching for another top-6 forward and are hoping to make another trade. Sure would be nice to see them aggressively pursue Ferland AS WELL AS grabbing another top-6 forward, but my expectations are tempered.

3 D-men for Leon Draisaitl.
2 for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
Good victory on Sunday. Nino is already producing more than Rask.
I really don't get that trade from the MN Wild standpoint.
I guess they are an old team l and needed a young center, and E Staal is UFA after this season.
Or, is it just because they could save $1.25 million cap space.
How would you like to be Eric Staal and look at Rask making half a million more than you.....
According to this, it sounds like the trade was for a "change of scenery" for both players who needed it. That said, I am surprised that Minnesota didn't ask for at least a draft pick (4th, 5th, whatever) to go along with this move as NN is by far a better player.
@NYI - WIN!!! 4-3
@TB - LOSS. 3-1
Buffalo - WIN!!! 4-3
Nashville - WIN!!!
@NYR - LOSS. 6-2
Ottawa - LOSS. 4-1
@Edmonton - WIN!!! 7-4 We're good again!?!
@Calgary - LOSS. 3-2 in OT. Played well enough to win but...
So they finish the series 4-4, which is...meh. Seems to be another year of times to get hopes up, only to see them dashed against the lower third of the league.
Ferland being out recently is a real concern. The injury only lists "upper body", but this soon after returning from concussion, one has to wonder.
Nice win in Vancouver, 5-2 good guys. Glad to see Nedeljkovic get his first NHL win in front of his folks. First Canes win in Vancouver this century!
Lots of good things going on with Turbo getting his 100th assist and Niederriter potting two more goals. This should be a momentum builder, but with this team...you just never know.
Next game is Friday vs. Las Vegas. Let's see if they can bring the momentum home.
