Just another dumb list, but seriously...driving around here is not bad:

They must be kidding.

NC roads are pure crap.

The butchered highways make it impossible to keep right if you want to stay away from the road maniacs. The right lanes come and then disappear.

Road markings are in awful repair.

Streetlights are rare even on busy roads like 70 heading to RDU.

If this is good, what is bad?

I can vouch for at least a couple of the bottom five. That's why it's so laughable to hear people talk about how terrible it is to drive here. It can be SO much worse.

What is the reasoning behind not having street lights, other than some cost savings. It really seems odd for a city that has this much growth.

The ironic thing is, that's where he'd prefer to live

The roads might be okay but the drivers here are way worse IMO. I have lived all over the country and never seen so many left lane entitled drivers! I would never put NC driving in the top 40 of states to drive in lol

In my opinion, the roads here are quite good. I moved here from NH one year ago and discovered that driving my stiff suspension sports car was a much more pleasant experience than in the Northeast, which is plagued by frost heaves. Also, people drive faster here, which I like. Over the weekend I got caught behind a car driving slowly in the right lane, and I was like wth, why so slow, until I saw they had NH plates, lol.

Challenges to driving here are the constant lane drops, but once you know the roads, it's all good.

Yes, but I'd surrender my license and use the MTA.
