Lochmere seems like a great subdivision in a fantastic location for sure.I loved how close Trader Joes was!

What does race have to do with being poor, and what does being poor have to do with parental involvement in schools?

Not a discussion for this thread either way...

Thank you for the insight.I know a number of people who are far from poor that do not value education.Test scores and parental involvement at a school means a lot to me.As an adult,I could care less what race or socioeconomic background someone comes from as long as they live a productive life and strive to instill those same values in their children.

A question...Do the majority of people with children in the Wake County system have concerns about test scores and parental involvement in schools?I have never lived in a district that is county wide.In other places I have lived these are common concerns...

It varies widely within the county - just like it would in states with town-based schools.

Yes, we are no different here. Parents with more resources tend to contribute more resources (time and money).

The mindset of countywide schools may be more concern for everyone’s child, not just my own.

Please be open minded about schools. I’m not telling you to place your kid in the lowest performers but places like durham schools get disparaged across the board due to a higher poor population and have many good schools and successful students.

Most schools have clusters of high performers which will create the community to nurture your child furthermore the benefits of experiencing racial and economic diversity are immense

If schemes like forced busing were supported the low performers would be diluted amongst all the schools but people give arguments similar to yours to perpetuate packing and isolating the most needy children. It’s contemptable.

My bus ride was an hour and a half in rural nc. So I’m not talking about something I didn’t wxperience

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to send your kids to schools with like-minded families. It's not racist, it's not nimby. It's human nature.
