I read that there have been over 100,000 tech layoffs so far this year.

Is the Triangle being affected by this in any way ?

Most of the large tech companies are doing layoffs, so I would assume that would include some in the Triangle.

These things run in cycles. 100,000 tech layoffs is still small compared to popping the bubble in 2000 and subsequent years. It's said that during that period, Silicon Valley alone had 200,000 layoffs.

Microsoft shut down a major project that an entire office in RTP was working on a few weeks ago, and laid off a significant chunk. I’m sure they aren’t the only company locally doing layoffs. On the hiring side, companies like Apple, Meta and Google are hiring way below their initial plans when they announced new offices in the Triangle over the past couple years.
