No idea about the NE data that was referenced. Personally I like Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer in that order.

Just moved here 4 weeks ago. Maybe this is why Raleigh summer seem fine to me. It’s like St. Louis through and through...but I don’t think the humidity is as bad here. My in-laws live in Atlanta and dreaded visiting STL in the summer.

Looking forward to Fall in the Triangle! That was my favorite in STL. October specifically.

St. Louis

June 86° / 67°
July 90° / 71°
August 88° / 69°

Same can be said for anywhere on the East Coast really. In terms of temps, California’s mediterranean climate probably wins hands down, but it also doesn’t rain between April and October and I can’t deal with dessicated landscapes (even redwood forests feel dry when it hasn’t rained in months) and gladly take the East Coast summer heat and humidity which gives us forests and greenery.

Italy (Tuscany) probably has the best climate in Western society - the mediterranean temps of Cali with more rainfall.

That's the thing about Raleigh, you have hot summers with cold winters. It's similar to the Midwest. Remember we had almost two weeks in a row this year that it didn't go above freezing.

The key is to not look at averages but instead look at historical data. I would link to the site but when I did last time my whole post was deleted by a moderator.
Your judging raleighs climate by one of the coldest 2 weeks period ever? No one in raleigh experienced anything like this unless they lived here back in the early 80s... not to mention it broke the record for most days below feeezing so yeah. The midwest is far far far more extreme than here. Also if we use nyc/southern ct as the start of the NE then raleigh is a solid 13 degrees warmer in january on average using highs....

Temperatures are only part of the equation. Dew points matter too. Would love to see how they compare.

Raleighs average dew peaks at 70 in july. 66 june, 68 august. Miami... well is a solid 6 or so degrees higher every month in summer for its average dews.

Also average summer highs are... as reported by noaa...

87.1 june, 90.2 july, and 88.4 august.... where is everyone else getting their data??? Also those precipitation days are wayyyy out of wack... miami gets rain on more days that... as does raleigh.

Raleigh rain days..june 10.6, july 11.9, and august 10.5.

I've found this to be a great site. Takes apparent temperature (heat index) and extremes into account. Very informative:

Pretty clear illustration that Miami is far worse than Raleigh overall, but both cities have fewer extreme hot humidity days 105+ like Kansas City, St. Louis, Dallas, Tampa, Memphis, or Houston.
