My renewal notice was sitting on the coffee table, so I decided to try (I haven't gotten my inspection yet).
I went to the login page, entered my tag number and last 5 of my title number and clicked "Get Started". It took me right back to the same page, but above the "Get Started" button, it now said in red:
I see that now. But odd that the system will not let you in to update address information. That was our actual reason for wanting to log in (new NC address). The paper says something like "Do not send money if changing address" so that they can send a new statement. Doing it online would be the logical course of action (in my mind). But since we cannot do that correction, we have to 1) mail in the form, 2) then wait for the new form to arrive at the new address. And 3) that has to be timed so that the new form does not arrive before we can receive mail at that address. All doable, but online access to account would make it so much easier, I would think. Thanks all.

If I remember correctly from last year, I believe the login is only to access the payment portal. It doesn't allow you to update any information. You'll probably have to call the NCDOT or go in to the tag office.
A good thing too. No inspection sticker. No obstruction of vision, plus the guys always did a sloppy job of removing the old one and sticking on the new one
I used to actually scrape mine off and clean the residue myself before I headed to the inspection place because of this exact thing.
I’d avoid the DMV at all costs right now. I was there for SEVEN hours yesterday getting my new NC Real ID.
