I know that NC can be warm in the winter sometimes, but I googled the temp for that date, and it said a high of 57 and a low of 42. Hmm. That doesn't sound like weather for "lounging" outside comfortably for any period of time, especially later in the evening when it would be the coolest.

Yep in the documentary they glossed over that for the most part. A few clips of detectives/prosecutors bringing up that point but for the most part they ignored it. Pretty big "plot-hole" IMHO.
The only thing "scientific" on the defense's side IMO was the supposed fact that the lacerations on her head weren't very deep and didn't bruise....which they in theory would have been if there were repeated blows to her head with a blunt or pointy object.
