yeah it really depends. Most people are 8-5...or that seems to be the desired schedule. I am 9-6.

A 35 hour work week for full-time employees? I thought that only Europeans enjoyed that benefit. I've been working for 23 years and have never come across a company that offered 35 hour work weeks. I feel cheated now.

I'd say salaried jobs are 40-70 hrs/week. I am in the scientific field (non-industry) so hours can be weird depending on type of experiment going on but all of the salaried people I know are in for at least 40 hrs a week but more like 60.

I'm 7:30 - 4:30 now. I eat at my desk about 80% of the time. At my last position, it was more like 7a-6p. I'm a happy chicky.

I once had a new employee come from the NYC area and he was shocked that he was really expected to be working BY 9am and needed to put in 8 full hours of worktime (not including lunch).

Same here! Actually, I'd be happy to work "just" 40 hours a week!

I believe SAS has 35 hour work weeks. They are at work 8 hours a day, but get an hour for lunch that can be used to eat lunch at one of the three on-campus cafeterias (that actually have very good food, and it's payroll deducted and about half the cost of what you'd pay on the "outside"), work out at the on-site fitness facilities, play a game of volleyball or racketball, etc., or whatever else they choose to do with their hour. Not only that, but they can mostly choose their own schedules AND dress however they like any day of the week. Now THAT is cushy! And it's right around the corner in Cary (I know two people very well who work there).

My wife works for a big company in RTP which does this. They still have to put in 8 hours a day, but they get a 30 minute brake for lunch. So they technically work 37.5 hours per week. Not quite 35, but I have heard of such things. I think you would be hard pressed to find a company that gives you "free lunch time" anymore.
