We mowed the first time today. We seeded in October and EPM has done one or two visits since. The lawn looks great! There are a couple of rough spots still, especially where water stands, but the rain has worked wonders.

Do you use the same type of seed for spring overseeding? I'd like to hit a few spots in the backyard.

Tis the season for fescue lawns to explode! It's really a cooler weather grass and requires lots of water, which is why it looks so wonderful THIS time of year. By July, it won't look so hot. We love our fescue lawn in the spring, but curse it in the summer!

At least in the summertime, mowing only once a week is plenty!

Mowed mine for the first time last Monday and I should've mowed it over the weekend. Looks like it's going to be this afternoon. This is the time of year (form now through May) when my lawn needs to be cut twice a week or it begins to look shaggy.

I got out the reel mower yesterday - the weeds in my lawn were looking a bit scraggly. I wound up pulling a bunch of the more wiry ones out. I did throw some seed down in the fall so I have a fair amount of actual grass. As you might guess, I'm not one to slave over my lawn (except when I did zoysia sod at my old house, and I'll never do that again). If whatever grows there looks decent when kept short, I'm happy! I do like to make sure the trees, shrubs and perennials look nice though.
