Years back I had dual glass packs on my 68 olds cutlass supreme. It was a nice humming sound but not annoying or loud.

I hadn’t heard “glass packs” in a while. I thought they sounded great, but years ago a didn’t have anything worthy of a pair

The downside to glasspacks is that if the material ever blows out, they're gonna sound like crap. Personally, I prefer Flowmaster's chambered mufflers. I had the 40 Series Delta Flow on my ol' Jeep Cherokee with the bulletproof 4.0L, but because I went cheap and got the aluminized steel version, it eventually rusted out. I was initially gonna replace it with a Super 44, but I changed my mind and went straight for the Super 10, which is stainless steel.

The Super 10 really surprised me, though. Even though Flowmaster markets it as it's most aggressive muffler, it's pretty tame at cruising speeds, which is perfect for me (and my neighbors, LOL). Now if you floor it, it's a different story!

I wish the 4.0L engines were brought back. They're one of the best motors ever made.

I do hear Flowmaster a lot these days. I thought about Flowmaster for my Tahoe for performance and sound, but I’m kind of on the fence about buying a new Tahoe. We’ll see...maybe on my next one.

My OEM muffler got crushed like a beer can at Uwharrie. I now have a smaller magnaflow that dumps out above the axel on my JK. The new muffler is louder than I'd prefer so I tend to keep my shifts in the lower range of the RPMS in neighborhoods.

Not super loud but louder:
