Hi all,

Husband and I would like to move to North Carolina. Questions are - what cities or areas are the safest for living? What are the more liberal/progressive areas to reside in? How are the marijuana laws? Can you have a medical marijuana license? We have one now in PA. We do not have or want kids so schooling not important. We are two young 30 year olds who love dogs and have four and want to live somewhere near a progressive area and have access to the beach nearby if possible. Any ideas on where would be best in NC?

Any info is appreciated thanks!

My first thought was Asheville until you mentioned the beach.

You may want to try posting in the general North Carolina forum. This one is specific to Raleigh/Durham.

Re: beach - Define "nearby".

Re: your four dogs. Your posting history indicates that you had been looking to relocate to LV/Henderson area and would be looking for a rental. One of the barriers was a city ordinance restricting the number of dogs, and your four was above that limit.

While the cities in the Triangle do not have limits (AFAIK), many homes here are in HOA communities. HOA's will typically have a limit of 2-3 pets. I have heard of this being enforced (though not in my community).

A bigger problem for you will be finding a landlord who will rent to someone with four dogs. Of course, that's going to be a problem mo matter where you move.

I dont know how or why NC came up on your radar. Maybe you should be looking at California. . .

I don't know about other towns in the Triangle, but Holly Springs limits the number of dogs to 3 on lots having less than 20,000 sq.ft.
