At the end of the storm, around 2pm or so, there's some sort of technical weather thingy happening where differences of pressure are going to clash, and we could get up to 70mph winds.
It's sort of odd how non-serious people are taking this storm. Nobody's taking in things in from outside like with Florence, most workplaces are open, my kid's daycare is open.
Since Tuesday late they were predicting an early afternoon arrival with worsening conditions over the balance of the day.
As for why no one is freaking out about Michael, the threat of an intact Cat 2/3 making it to Raleigh was way bigger news. But based on the forecast I just watched, the impact of Michael will almost certainly be much worse in the moment than Florence here in the Triangle.
