We are just thinking about a job for my husband in Siler City. I need to be a lot closer to a city than that. He does not mind a commute. Are there homes anywhere that are not cookie-cutter subdivision homes with little lots? $400k or under? At least 2500 sq ft?

Another question: how are transplants treated? We live in Maine, and I've never lived south of Massachusetts. I imagine being a university area, there is a nice mix of people from all over.

I'm pretty sure Fearrington Village represents cookie cutter subdivision homes. The rest of Chatham county is nice though.

There is a place in Pittsboro named Bobcat Point. Large lots.. over 1 acre that might work.
