I'm shocked and disappointed nobody has recommended The Pit in downtown Raleigh.

Loaded. BBQ. Cheese. Fries. That is all.
The Pit = meh

We used to go to Bullock's till my wife found a dead grasshopper in her string beans. I was more impressed with the photos of famous people hanging on the wall that ate there than the food.

Well, there always Smithfield's. It's not bad in a pinch.

LOVE their wings and the beans. Was disappointed in the brisket and pork. Both were very dry. Could’ve just been an off day. It happens.

Just had a related conversation on this the other day. One of the problems with finding good restaurant specializing in certain foods is that so many have their own great smoking and grilling stations and can do a better authentic job at home. Kamoda grills and you have the basis for Q and steaks etc that are fixed to your standard of perfection. You can do Q and a steak to rival Ruth Chris at home.
