Personally to me, the Craftsman brand is tainted at this point. It's not classic Craftsman and is not the quality that it used to be, nor the warranties.
I wasn't especially impressed with the Craftsman tool chest. Home Depot sells Husky brand, and it's a far better box for the money.
I guess Lowe's has discontinued the Kobalt brand. I was checking out a shiny new red Craftsman tool chest on wheels last time I was there.
Lowes would be crazy to dump the Kobalt brand in favor of Craftsman and I just don't see that ever happening. Only time will tell if the Craftsman brand can still survive on it's own after Sears is no more....and at this point that's just a matter of when, not if.
Sears appliances have been reliable and/or do-it-yourself FIXABLE.
the Northgate parts store was great, but it is gone now, too.
we know that Sears did not actually make the appliances,
however the manufacturers and models chosen were
what we needed. we cannot complain.
Whirlpool makes the Kenmore brand; I found this out after my last go round with Sears. I was able to buy parts online and also found that a local parts store (D&L Appliance) has parts. That is a relief.
Lowe's does sell Craftsman now but it is not the quality brand it used to be. The last few Craftsman tools I bought were junk, with a few exceptions. I do still buy their miniature screwdrivers. They seem reasonable good and are cheaper than many others. These are tools I need but don't use every day so I don't need to pay high dollar for top quality.
I fully agree the company should not be allowed to pay executive bonuses. They have paid little or no severance to rank and file and I am sure they owe creditors a lot of money. Execs got their pay, that should be sufficient for them.
Not so fast! They've accepted Eddie's revised bid, so now it goes up against the liquidation bidders next week.
Just seen the recent news about this; It’s pretty much go to Lambert (who will probably ruin what’s left of the chain) or liquidate. Nobody else really wants to bother with it.
