I'm looking for classes that I can take that aren't too far away from the Raleigh area. Preferably classes that range from 12-16, or anywhere where a thirteen-year old can attend. These are for my daughter, and I know she wants paint classes, not jewelry-making.

Thanks!

The Town of Cary has a very nice art program, several painting and drawing classes and many of the classes are for teens only. You can find their brochure through the town of Cary webpage.

Arts Together, Artspace, and Raleigh Parks and Rec all have regular year and summer arts programs for kids that are great. They include all types of art media, including all types of painting at various levels.

Check the Pullen Arts Center on the NCSU campus right by the bell tower.

Check out the classes through Raleigh Parks & Rec at Sertoma (off Millbrook) or Pullen (next to NC State). I love the classes through parks & rec because (1) they're inexpensive and (2) they're short-term commitments.

Let me second the art programs through the Town of Cary. Very impressive, lots of different classes. It's amazing all the programs they offer!

Town of Cary :Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Programs (http://www.townofcary.org/depts/prdept/programs.htm - broken link)

Then click on Teen Scene, there are lots of art classes in the PDF document.

You need to look into the summer program now. The Feb/March classes are ending and the summer programs will be starting up soon.

I looked some more at it, and I noticed that you could only sign up during June and December. Do you know any classes when sign up is not only twice a year? Maybe, she can sign up this month or next?

I think the Town of Cary sign-ups are ongoing as long as the class hasn't started yet.
