My husband wants to take a weekend trip to the Casino in the near future. Does anyone know of a bus trip that leaves from the Raleigh or Fayetteville area that goes to Harrah's in Cherokee? TIA!

I don't know of any organized bus service, but Mardi Gras in WVa is the same driving distance (~5 hours) as Cherokee from Raleigh. It is smaller than Cherokee, but I like it better.

There is a casino boat that goes out from just over the border into South Carolina (~3 hour drive).

Thanks for sharing these options. He is trying to go over the weekend so some of the bus trips are out. Once he retires, we will definitely take the mid-week bus. I never heard of Mardi Gras but will share it with him, he could combine his trip with some fishing!

Closest casino (other than a boat) that I'm aware of from Raleigh is MGM at National Harbor (just outside of Washington DC). I live in northern Wake County and have made it in just less than 4 hours. Obviously, you have to go at the right time to avoid huge traffic delays...

Another one is the Hollywood Casino in Charles Town, WV which is only five hours
from Raleigh. It's about eight miles from Harpers Ferry, WV, a place I love visiting!

Having been to both Charles Town and National Harbor in the past couple of months, I absolutely recommend National Harbor. I've been going to CT for years, and it's gone downhill. It's now a sad, smokey version of its former self.

I really appreciate your suggestions and reviews! Seems to be plenty of bus trips from the western part of the state but only one from Raleigh that we can find. He may ride the megabus and check out the MGM.

UPDATE

We found a casino bus leaving from Clayton and Garner this Saturday, Feb. 23. If you are interested, send me a private message.

Man we REALLY need an option within an hour of the triangle. Crazy that 4.5 hours is the closest.
