I have no problem with NH. That Harris Teeter is the closest grocery store to my house (though when Wegmans is finished, that will be the cloest) and I hit the Target pretty often too. Some coworkers and I just went to King's Bowling last night after eating at WoB. It was fun! Parking can be kind of tricky occasionally but that's to be expected. I think the decks are fine. NH is a nice development. If your only gripe is parking decks having poor drivers, that's not the developer's fault. They have 2 more towers under construction now, can't wait til they're complete!

Pierretong1991 is right. In hindsight, NH should have been developed with better pedestrian flow and vehicle flow. I think it's fair to say that the ongoing success of NH has exceeded Kane's original expectations and certainly the City's expectations.

But neither NH nor CVM poses any more difficulty than DTR. Raleigh ain't the small city of 30 years ago. No turning back.

North Hills is great. Most dense "urban" suburban development between Atlanta and DC. I think that's something to be proud of. But obviously there's a lot of people who don't feel that way and prefer true suburbia with a true suburban shopping mall. Kane just needs to figure out a way to connect it better over (or under) Six Forks Rd.

Well, it's all about to get a lot worse - there is a huge development, possibly including office buildings by the looks of the initial structures, on St. Albans just down from NH proper.

Some on this forum seem to have access to intel on these things before they are more public, if anyone does I'd be interested to know more.

Yep more similiar development is going to continue east. Currently North Hills has the 20 story office tower going up and the 33 story Walter tower. Then the next tower announced is an 18 story addition to the Cardinal retirement home. So yeah if there are some that hate North Hills now then just wait lol.

With the development going on in Crabtree as well maybe it will push enough of those that desire a regular mall to keep Triangle Town Center alive....?

I actually wasn't talking about the Walter Tower or surrounding area, which is indeed in progress with a huge crane dominating the landscape; if you expand the map in LordHelmit's link you'll see some blue markers around The Church of The Apostles.

Driving by, the size of the clearing suggest that it could be as big as one of the three existing NH sections. Not sure if that is what Trent was referring to as being part of the Cardinal, which is already as big as any of the other apartment complexes.

Kane/North Hills doesn't do a good enough job of laying out where the parking spots are available on the east side of Six Forks. But parking is generally available to the non-resident public.

But I don't see the obligation for them to have 100% parking availability from 9-5 pm. The City has requirements for that when they approve projects - in essence, the office buildings must have enough for the tenants during those hours. And after 5, as far as I can tell, there's enough parking where you don't have to walk more than the equivalent of 3 blocks.

I'm 52, and that's close enough in my book. I feel confident that NH has enough handicapped spots as City rules require. If they don't, or some organization wants to show how they don't, then I'm sure Kane will adjust to what's required.

I'm neither engineer nor logistics expert. Whether a tunnel under 6 Forks is warranted or economically-feasible is beyond me. Adding shuttles and 20 seconds to the Dartmouth and Lassiter Mills lights might make more sense. Heck, if they're REALLY doing away with the R-Line downtown, there's 2 circulator buses that can be bought and moved.

I remember NH as a deteriorating shopping mall that saw its best day until Kane purchased and made a lot of us wealthy since who had invested in Six forks properties.

It has its flaws not due to John but politics due to a lack of a transit plan and fund commitments which is the reason all areas in the Triange suffer. Is Crabtree any better? cross roads? beaver Creek or Brier Creek? I can keep going....
