There may be a policy about featuring juveniles without parental consent.
What? How the heck does the news know who is involved in ANY accident at the moment they are covering it? Or any news story for that matter? By your logic the news would never cover a school shooting because the victims are usually 95% under the age of 18. This idea makes zero sense. It DOES explain why the police report is not readily available (other explanation is that it takes up to 5 days for TOC to get the reports on their website).
Theres a LOT of stuff that never makes the news. Bank robberies being a big one. I used to live near an intersection in Cary where there were 3 banks. They got robbed several times. Rarely ever made the news.
Just like the one where supposedly a body found in a car at a Raleigh fast food restaurant a few days ago. I never saw anything on local news about it.
I had heard about this incident while at Green Hope HS Monday evening. A TOC police officer shared that 2 kids, elementary and possibly middle school age, had been hit by cars. I tried to find the information the next day and there was nothing. The news stations broadcast news for hours on tv each day and all they do is repeat the same 5 stories.
Local media outlets will rarely cover Cary PD actions, since many years ago Cary Gov't authorized the scrambling of all PD communications.
That prevents the media, bad guys, etc. from hearing anything Cary on their radio scanner.
EMS/Fire can still be monitored, however.
PD reports vary in length of time to get posted.
(Poor Belks had its share of shoplifting last weekend.)
