I'd say this thread was a social experiment by a regular.

Good fences make good neighbors.

Pro Tip: If you want to fly a flag, be it American, Confederate, Rainbow, College, Freak, or otherwise, please check with your HOA, as, well, I’m sure there are probably some covenants, at least in Cary and the rest of Western Wake County...

Generally, the Triangle area has a good mix of Liberals and Conservatives.

Durham and Chapel Hill/Carrboro are mostly Liberal and typically vote for Democrats in elections. Durham and Orange are literally two of the bluest counties in the state.

Johnston, and Franklin Counties are mostly conservative areas that tend to vote Republican in elections.

In Wake County, Much of Raleigh proper leans Liberal votes for Democrats (This is especially true ITB) but there are a couple of conservative areas (parts of North Raleigh, Hayes-Barton like pierretong1991 said, and perhaps the North Hills area of I-440)

Morrisville votes pretty Democratic (thanks to the proximity to RTP), Cary and Apex are a mix, with the latter being kind of a transitional zone.

Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Zebulon, Wake Forest, and Knightdale? These areas typically vote Republican.

Can an HOA really stop you from flying the American flag? Not familiar with my local rules on this.

The “Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005” makes it illegal for an HOA to restrict owners from displaying a U.S. flag.

I don't think so, but they should have limits on size and heights of flag poles.

Thank you for your reply. This is basically what I was looking for. When you are considering a move, to get to warmer temps, there's a lot to research and it would be nice to know that you could at least find some that have similar beliefs that you might be able to be friends with.

Sorry, not afraid to ask. If I want to know something, I generally ask.
