I’ll never buy meat from Food Lion again.
Years ago they caught Food Lion stores over bleaching chickens. I never bought meat from them again. I’ve heard several stories about people buying rotten ground beef from Food Lion. Other than that we buy groceries from Food Lion. No meat though

Publix is a very nice store, and I go there on occasion, but not for normal grocery shopping.
We don't really eat or buy meat so I guess I don't really notice that side of it.

They bleached the meat too, IIRC. Ground beef was what I bought.

I can’t knock Food Lion too much, though. Thanks to them, I learned how to make homemade cheese-flavored chewing gum from them in 3 easy steps!

Step 1: Buy their brand of shredded mild cheddar cheese.

Step 2: Melt cheese (patience strongly recommended, it could take a while. Hell, use a blowtorch if you have to).

Step 3: Enjoy! You can chew it as long as you want and it will never break down! Just don’t screw up like I did and try to swallow it (that’s what I get for thinking Food Lion cheese goes good with macaroni casserole). You’ll choke.
