Any guess what rainfall we might get in the next few weeks? It's the right time of year to put the backflow preventer back on the system. Our neighbor usually does it early but I took a peak and theirs is not back on yet. I think we may just decide to put things back in a week or two. But if it keeps raining we may wait a while into May.

What's the advantage of waiting? The only reason to remove it is so it doesn't freeze right?

Well you see we choose to take it off in the fall before freezing and put back on in spring. No advantage to waiting. But if there is enough rain, we don't need the sprinkler system, do you see?

I understand, but you need to put it on either way, so what does it matter?

Nobody can tell you how much it's going to rain in the next few weeks.

Zitsky, if you're talking about the irrigation backflow, our landscaping company did our subdivision about 2 weeks ago. (We live in Regency at BCCC. Unlike the rest of BCCC, all HOA includes the landscaping.)

We adjust the timer ourselves to reflect the amount of rainfall. Sometimes turning it off completely.

I have paid people in the past but it's simple to take off and put on. So now we do it ourselves.

We are probably doing it in a week if we don't get more rain.

Looking at forecasts, expect over an inch of rain this weekend, and likely another next as well. We’re trending about an inch a month over average for the past several seasons, and there is no indication of that changing. Until, of course, it does. Enjoy your water savings. April showers bring May flowers.
