Can anyone tell me any of the pros and cons of living in the Falls Lake section of Wake Forest/Raleigh?
As far as work, my commute would be to Cary (Weston Pkwy) and my wife would commute to Durham (near airport)
We are seeking preferably a ranch house - 4 bedroom and or furnished basement with .5 acres or less preferably in a development but not opposed to a nice regular neighborhood.
Is there a particular neighborhood you guys just like in Wake Forest? Just seems that living in Cary or Morrisville would be more convenient and you would still have quick access to Jordan Lake if being near the lake is what you were after.
The Falls Lake area of wake Forest is a big area. The zip code 27587 encompasses northern Wake County and southern Granville County. So depending where you are coming from within the Falls Lake area of wake Forest it could be 25 minutes to 10 minutes to down town Wake Forest metropolis.
Not an abundance of Ranch Homes due to the price point for that area. $350K to to several million if you get into Hasentree. There are a number of older ranch homes sprinkled in that area if you like older homes. 4 bedroom maybe tough as the older ranches tended to be on the small side.
Pro's if you fish, like mosquitoes, and variety of out door creatures its great!
Con's, if you don't fish, or like mosquitoes, or outdoor creatures a definite con.
Travel to Cary:
Con due to no easy way to get there from here.
Pro if your a truck driver and enjoy long hauls.
Travel to Durham near RDU:
Con if you have to use 540 during peak times.

The area is certainly nice if you like rural but there are a number of subdivision in the area that give you more Suburban than rural. Best advise is to come to the area find a place you may like and drive to Cary and RDU between 7 - 9AM and 4 - 6PM. That is the true test on the commute. Driving it on a Saturday or Sunday just won't do it! Good luck.

So, in no other zipcode other than the 27587, or area that is NOT considered the Falls Lake area of Wake Forest, do mosquitoes exist???? If only I'd known this before I moved to this area.......
Always amazed at some of the things that pop up on the internet.
